With an emphasis on local, Big Spring Spirits founder Kevin Lloyd envisioned opening a community-centric craft distillery in the heart of Central Pennsylvania. When the opportunity arose to set down roots in Bellefonte’s beautiful Match Factory in 2014, it was an easy decision. Since then, Big Spring Spirits is proud to be able to a partner with this community, sourcing from our local farmers and artisans, whenever possible.

Sam Cummings, Jr. and Tom Jones started their distillery from scratch and it is their goal to make CJ Spirits a premier tourist destination and also a world class producer of fine spirits. 5 Hazard’s Distillery

Mifflintown, PA

Hazard’s Distillery is a family-owned craft distillery located in the heart of Juniata County, Pennsylvania. 6 Wilds Sonshine Factory

Wilds Sonshine Factory is a new, innovative distillery located in Kane, PA that produces “sunflower spirits” called “SONSHINE” – trademarked as the original distilled spirit made only from sunflowers from the PA Wilds region! 8 Stoll & Wolfe Distillery

Lititz, PA

Stoll & Wolfe have moved to the forefront of a crowded whiskey landscape by distilling whiskey using recipes and methods passed down by legendary Pennsylvania Master Distiller Dick Stoll. The distillery has been a vital part of reviving whiskey making in small-town Pennsylvania. The collection of Stoll & Wolfe spirits embodies the style and 250-year history of distilling in the Lancaster region.

9 Thistle Finch Distillery

Lancaster, PA

Located a short walk from downtown Lancaster, Thistle Finch Distillery is located in the former Walter Schnader Tobacco Warehouse that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Visitors can have a unique experience by tasting a variety of house made infusions or by taking a free tour of the distillery to learn how Thistle Finch makes their award-winning rye whiskey.

Hidden Sill Spirits continues the long history of distilling spirits which can be dated back to 1753. The name is derived from how the process of distilling spirits had been conducted many times throughout history. The facility, not far from West Chocolate Avenue, is in an old plant that was previously used to service The Hershey Co. and now produces handcrafted small batches of bourbon, whiskey, vodka, gin and rum.

1 Altered State Distillery

Altered State Distillery is a small, family-owned and operated business and long-time dream of owner/distiller, deadhead and music-lover, Gavin Maus. Located on the shores of Lake Erie, this Northwestern PA distillery in has built a total of seven whiskey styles, along with organic vodka, organic gin, barrel-aged rum, spiced rum and Whiskey Creams available to-go.

2 Conneaut Cellars Distillery

Conneaut Cellars Distillery is the first distillery in Northwestern Pennsylvania since Prohibition. Distilling small batches of high quality rums, brandies, vodkas from grapes, whiskies (including a pure rye whiskey from an 1870’s recipe), as well as a 4 grain bourbon. Conneaut Cellars’ craft micro-distillery avoids the common practice of buying pre-made spirits. Every batch they produce is small, crafted by hand in their distillery and bottled by hand.

2 Tall Pines Distillery

Family owned and operated craft distillery since 2014. Known for hand crafted Moonshine, Rye Whiskey, Whiskey, Rum, barrel aged Bourbon, and Liqueurs. Products are produced and bottled on site. Natural flavors, real ingredients, along with natural, pure and untreated water gives Tall Pines products distinctive smooth taste and character. Tall Pines has 3 satellite locations and soon will be opening the fourth while a Tall Pines Missouri location has been in business since 2020.

3 West Overton Village

Scottdale, PA

The West Overton Distillery Museum features life-size dioramas that highlight the industries of West Overton Village between 1800 and 1919. Showcased are coverlet weaving, coal and coke production and whiskey distillation. The museums are closed for regular tours during October thru April.

1 County Seat Spirits

Easton, PA

County Seat Spirits is a producer of fine spirits including their Sand Island Rum and Hidden Copper Bourbon. County Seat prides itself on being a true “grain to glass” distillery — one which performs the entire process from milling raw grains on site, mashing, fermenting, distilling and aging. County Seat’s tasting room is open Fridays starting at 4pm and weekends starting at noon.

Eight Oaks Craft Distillers is a veteran-owned, family-run, farm distillery located in the rolling country hills of Lehigh Valley. Eight Oaks grows all their grain on their own farm like wheat, corn, rye and barley and craft that grain into Vodka, Gin, Rye Whiskey and Bourbon.

X 3 Sisters Rum

Schwenksville, PA

Three Sisters Rum was established in 2019 in North Carolina. As the company expanded, the decision was made to construct the first distillery at the family’s homestead in Schwenksville, PA, which had been in their possession for over 50 years. Rum is now distilled on a daily basis at the premises, and the necessary licenses have been obtained to sell the product in PA, NC, DE, and FL.

X 1675 Spirits

Bensalem, PA

1675 Spirits is dedicated to picking out the perfect grains at Castle Valley Mill in Bucks County. All ingredients are sourced directly within 100 miles of the mill and all 100% Non-GMO. This local mill has been grinding grains since 1730 using a stone ground mill and all original machinery.

X Botanery Barn Distillery

Elverson, PA

Head upstream on the Brandywine River as far as you can go—past crumbling mills, Revolutionary War battlefields, and long-forgotten Lenape fisheries—all the way to its headwaters. Not far from the river bank you’ll find an old barn, our first experiment in bringing new life to the old ways. Having revived the barn, we moved in two hand-hammered copper pot stills, four Douglas Fir fermentation tanks, and a couple of master distillers. Botanery Barn Distillery was born and ever since, we’ve been dedicating our days to making innovative new spirits according to the time-honored traditions of old-fashioned craft distilling.

Focused on tradition and simplicity, this distillery based out of Manayunk produces the very patriotically named, citrus-y Liberty Gin, and Manayunk Moonshine, which sounds like the best worst idea in a while. Tours are offered every Saturday from noon to 5 PM, no reservation needed. During that time the tasting room is also open. And anytime you see a sign outside that says “free gin tasting,” head on in.

Born from a Kickstarter campaign, Red Brick first got its feet on the ground in 2016. Now they produce multiple spirits and work very closely with their neighbor Martha (a bar with more than 50 local spirits). Grab a bottle of their single malt Red Brick Whiskey, Barrel Strength Red Brick Whiskey, or their Simple Shine, a sugar wash rum.

Spring House Spirits celebrate regional history, tracing back to the original people who occupied the lands for thousands of years and extending to the present. Spring House Spirits has introduced a Rum, reminiscent of colonial times, which showcases the county’s oldest continually occupied chapel. To support the church’s ongoing presence in the community, a Saint Malachi Chapel fund has been established, with 10% of the revenue from Rum sales dedicated to this cause.

2 JAS Distilling started as a passionate hobby that got a little out of hand. After several years of making wine with friends, founders Bob Hunt and Rich Couchenour became obsessed with the craft of distillation. What began as weekend experiments quickly turned into something much bigger. Once all the necessary permits were secured, they took the leap and began distilling rum using an authentic Caribbean-inspired process dating back to the 1920s.

Iron City Distilling is a state-of-the-art craft distillery located in Creighton, Pennsylvania. Housed in a historic former Pittsburgh Plate Glass boiler building on the 43-acre Pittsburgh Brewing Company campus, the distillery specializes in resurrecting 19th-century, pre-Prohibition styles of American whiskey.

6 Liberty Pole Spirits

Liberty Pole Spirits is a family-owned, small batch distillery committed to producing premium craft whiskeys from locally sourced heritage grains in an American-made pot still. Located in the heart of the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion territory, the distillery is a warmly restored, turn-of-the-century building that offers a cozy spot or two in which to sip their spirits or seasonal cocktails. Tours are offered on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. The tour includes a cocktail to enjoy while listening to stories about the Whiskey Rebellion and walking around the production floor and barrel storage. The tour finishes in the colonial style dining room, where guests sample a flight of whiskeys in front of the fireplace.
