PA Distillers November News and Notes: Stateside Sues Anheuser-Bush, Bucks County Resident Has One of the Largest Whiskey Collections in U.S.

Surfside vs. Skimmers

Philadelphia’s Stateside Brands is suing Anheuser-Busch over the similarity between  Stateside’s Surfside cans and AB’s Skimmers. Stateside’s lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction against Anheuser-Busch that would force the company to change its design, as well as unspecified damages. But will the lack of a trademark hurt the case?

 

The Pennsylvania state House of Representatives passed House Bill 1702 which would allow bars and restaurants to have premixed cocktails on tap, just like beer. 

 

Costco is looking to add a liquor license to its Cranberry Township (Butler County) location. It is the first application for the big box chain that regularly battles the PLCB for the claim of largest alcohol purchaser in the world.

 

Downtown Easton gets a distillery to call its own. Original Degenerate Distilling Company is opening a couple of doors down from Easton’s State Theatre. Owner Chris Plumaker opens with a line of flavored moonshines and rums made on site.
