From Wigle Whiskey

New on Wigle Whiskey Shelves: Double Cask Finished Red Wine Gin. The origins of this spirit began a couple of years ago. We were presented with the opportunity to perform a barrel exchange with our friends and neighbors at Engine House 25, the Clemente Museum’s wine label. We provided them with freshly emptied Wigle Whiskey barrels, and in return, they provided us with freshly emptied red wine barrels. Our distillers felt that the fresh, bright fruit notes of the wine would pair perfectly with the botanical profile of our Dutch-Style Gin.

For nearly a year and a half, Wigle Dutch-Style Gin sat in the bold and tannic Engine House 25 red wine barrels. After our distillers tasted the gin, they transferred the spirit to a freshly emptied Wigle Pennsylvania Bourbon barrel to add an additional layer of depth and complexity to the spirit. After a little over a year in the Bourbon cask, the flavors developed, and the spirit was transformed into the double-cask finished gin that is now on Wigle Whiskey shelves.
