Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey: Our Commonwealth's Native Spirit
WHEN: Tuesday, June 23, 5:00pm - 6:00pm
WHERE: Hilton Harrisburg, 1 N. 2nd St., Harrisburg, PA 17101

Join fellow legislators, staff members, and leaders from Pennsylvania’s craft distilling industry for an engaging discussion on the history, resurgence, and future of Pennsylvania rye whiskey.

Featured speaker Matt Strickland of Iron City Distilling will explore Pennsylvania’s deep connection to rye whiskey—from its role in the Commonwealth’s early economy and the Whiskey Rebellion to the remarkable growth of today’s distilling industry. The discussion will examine why Pennsylvania rye whiskey deserves greater recognition as a defining product of the Commonwealth.

Attendees will also hear an update from Nate Kresge, producer and director of the documentary project Pennsylvania’s Pioneering Spirit: America’s Whiskey Legacy, which is documenting Pennsylvania’s historic influence on American whiskey and the ongoing revival of its rye whiskey tradition.

Pennsylvania’s distilling industry continues to create jobs, support agricultural producers, attract tourism, and generate economic activity across the Commonwealth. This reception offers an opportunity to learn more about the industry’s impact while networking with distillers and industry leaders.

Representatives from Iron City Distilling, Dad’s Hat, Stoll & Wolfe, and other Pennsylvania distilleries will be on hand to share their stories and offer samples of Pennsylvania-made spirits.

Please note that portions of the event will be filmed for inclusion in the documentary.
